Zahedan Paramedical School started working independently in July 1990 in a rented building located on Molavi Street with three Associate fields, Laboratory Science, Radiology, and Anesthesiology. These three fields have been in the medical school since the establishment of Zahedan University of Medical Sciences in 1986 until July 1990. In October 1992, by adding the bachelorate degree in physiotherapy with 17 day-shift and 7 night-shift students to the school its name changed to the Faculty. In October 1994, another 20 night-shift students in the field of optometry admitted as internal tests.
According to The Ministry of Health and Medical Education (MOHME),Associate degrees in laboratory sciences of anesthesiology and radiology from October 2008, bachelor's degree in optometry from October 1996, bachelor's degree in the medical library and information from October 2000, associate degree in medical records from February 2001, discontinuous bachelor's degree in laboratory sciences and anesthesiology from October 2007 turned into bachelor degrees.
Speech therapy and audiology at the undergraduate level added to the disciplines of this faculty from October 1988, and the last group of students in the associate degree in medical records admitted in February 2008. This field changed its name and degrees and accepted students for the first course since February 2009 with the title of Bachelor of Health Information Technology (HIT).
The paramedical faculty transferred to a rented building located at the intersection of Taleghani and Mostafa Khomeini streets in 1992. Since 1998, it has located in the complex of the medical faculty located in Mashayir Square and since April 2007, this faculty has located on the campus of Zahedan University of Medical Sciences.
The Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences started its activities with Physiotherapy, optometry, audiology and speech therapy disciplines after obtaining the establishment license from the Council for the Development of Medical Universities on 21/2/2010 and work independently. Currently, the paramedical faculty has the fields of laboratory sciences, anesthesiology, library and medical information, radiology technology and health information technology in the bachelor's degree and anesthesiology and laboratory sciences in the bachelor's degree.
The admission permit of students in the night course of Discontinuous bachelor's degree in anesthesiology and laboratory sciences has given to this faculty from the second semester of 2011-2012. Basic medical sciences training laboratories, including laboratories of chemistry and biochemistry, physiology, immunology, hematology, histology, pathology and microbiology (bacteriology, parasitology and mycology) used to be a subset of this school but now is located in the medical school.
